[jira] [Commented] (HBASE-12963) Add note about using newer JDKs for compilation to the guide

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-12963?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16409626#comment-16409626 ]

Sean Busbey commented on HBASE-12963:
-------------------------------------

updated the scope (and moved this to a top level docs issue). It's definitely fixed for jdk8, but we should still document (either in the "building hbase" section or as a note on supported JDKs) the {{-Pjavac}} maven profile added by HBASE-12695 on how to build with a newer JDK that isn't supported by all of our bytecode level tooling. (presuming those mechanisms still work).

Not a blocker for 2.0, I'd say, but definitely a project hygiene issue.

> HBASE-12695 fixed building 2.0.0-SNAP with JDK8, but right now it's only documented in a release note. We should add a note to the "building hbase" section of the ref guide.
