Question on backup

Hi, all

How do you backup (and restore) your Hbase databases?

Thank you for your cooperation,
M.

To add to J-Ds prescription, you should stop hbase to be sure you catch
all edits before copying. I'd suggest testing offline so you are
comfortable with this technique.

Another backup tool is available as a patch at HBASE-897. Its
out-of-date and text-only but might be a useful starting point.

Michael,

You can distcp the HBase folder to somewhere else in your HDFS then either
let it there or move it directly into your filesystem on a disk that can
hold all your non-replicated data. Restoring it back is a matter of another
distcp.
