Basic Link.

Hello,
I want to add a link in the header and footer. 
While rendering the PDFRenderer adds the basic link object to the list of
links.
But the link appears as simple text in the output pdf.
Is this some sort of a bug....or there's something missing ?
Any way around to get this done.
