Testing Self-Checkpointing in the Go SDK

Hey everyone,

I've been working on adding self-checkpointing to the Go SDK (BEAM-11104
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BEAM-11104> has links to the design
doc and PRs) and have hit the point where I need to write an integration
test to make sure that the implementation actually works before allowing
users to return process continuations in their SDFs. Is anyone familiar
with how Java or Python manage this? I haven't been able to track down a
good test pipeline for it yet and any help would be appreciated.
