Hi Sorin, thanks for the patch I'll commit it shortly. If you are looking at removing readlink would you have time to remove all instances of it. The perftest package has some usages.

Would also be good to standardise the way our scripts startup. broker/bin/msTool.sh for example is very similar to qpid-server but requires a QPID_TOOLS be set rather than using QPID_HOME or trying to determin the correct path.
