The news went into Slashdot:

http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=01/04/28/2119211

I will work on a workaround (try to go non-validating, getting a local
copy, removing the DTD when reading them or else making it non-expirable
in cache) tomorrow.

In the longer term, as it has been pointed in several XML lists, we
should move to solutions that do not depend on propietary single-sourced
files, like this DTD.

The jakarta channels do not fail, as they are not referring to the DTD.
The caveat, I think, is that we cannot use named entities if we do not
use the DTD.
