[jira] [Commented] (SOLR-4792) stop shipping a war in 5.0
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-4792?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14280993#comment-14280993 ]
Mark Bennett commented on SOLR-4792:
------------------------------------
I realize that whether or not we ship a .war is not tightly coupled to whether or not we use HTTP to communicate, but I believe Elasticsearch uses some other type of socket (or maybe it's not even a socket?) to communicate between processes, supposedly it's much more efficient / lower latency.
Has that also been discussed for Solr 5?

> This is the first step: if we stop shipping a war then we are free to do anything we want.
