Conventions plugin action annotation

Can anyone explain how to override the restful URI with the action
annotation. In the docs it states that I need to add the action
annotation as such 

@Action("/a/b/controller-name/method.xml")

But if I type this address as the url then when debugging I can see that
it has set the namespace to /a/b/controller-name and action is set to
method and th method is set to index

Can anyone help
