New user - cannot get into namespace administration

Hello,

I  downloaded  the  latest slide distribution, untarred it, and started the
server.
Followed  the  instructions on the welcome page about uncommenting the root
password and
changing it.

Restarted, but it doesn't work.
In the admin_log, I get the message

2002-09-03  14:40:13  Slide  realm[/slide]:  User  root  doesn't  have  his
password property set : can't authenticate

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
