Upcoming OpenWhisk "Tech Interchange" Meeting - 6th December 2017
Hi all,
We have our next OpenWhisk Tech Interchange meeting this Wednesday at 4pm GMT (11am EST, 8am PST) and I'm hosting it.
Does anyone have any agenda items to discuss? Priti has already reserved a couple of topics, but there's room for more if you have something you want to cover. Typically we cover introductions to new features, educational how-tos, discussions on features/ideas and such like.
Current agenda:
1. Introduction/New faces on the call? (5 mins)
2. Asking around for notable changes/updates? (5 min)
- Main/core OpenWhisk
- Kube/Mesos/Compose/etc
- API Gateway
- Catalog/Packages/Samples
- Tooling/Utilities
3. Topics
a. Introducing Managed deployment in Whisk Deploy - Priti Desai (10 mins)

I tried to capture all notable changes across repos since our last
interchange.
We might not have time to discuss but I was going over changes to capture
for the podling December report
So thought it was a good idea to share:
## openwhisk:
- Remove of CLI source code, now in CLI repo
- Move all CLI open issues to CLI repo
- New test common class wskRest, replaces Wsk class
- New deploy kafka and zookeeper cluster config/scaleout
- New couchdb cluster config/scaleout
- New PureConfig integration, env variables to JVM properties
- New LogStore for streaming logs into db and file
- Update Trigger Fire now 202 instead 200
- Remove swift 3.0 from default deployment
- New nodejs8 to default deployment
- Update wskadmin to list spaces for a subject
- Update Clustering/HA for controllers by default
- Remove old DB views (replace with whisk.v2)
- Update nodejs6 to 6.12 in default deployment
## openwhisk-cli:
- New canonical source after duplication removal from main repo
- New open issues moved from main repo to CLI repo
- New triiger feed lifecyles on `trigger get` and `trigger update`
## openwhisk-client-go:
- New canonical source after duplication removal from main repo
## openwhisk-deploy-kube:
- Repo updated and keeping up with changes from main core (Thanks David !)
## openwhisk-packages-alarms:
- New StartDate and stopDate parameters for cron
- New alarm trigger type fire once
- New alarm trigger type interval
- New ability for feed action to return config and status
## openwhisk-packages-kafka:
- Update to feed action to return config and status
- Update to feed action to update trigger config (topic)
## openwhisk-packages-cloudant:
- Update to feed action to return config and status
- Update to feed action to update trigger config (dbName)
## openwhisk-package-deploy:
- New repo created with proper license, docs, tests, and Travis CI
- New action wskdeploy allows to deploy wskdeploy git repos

I would like to discuss on Publishing snapshot version of artifacts to
Apache Maven Repository [1]. This would simplify SPI development and
would be an step towards the proper release
1. Modify Gradle build to push following artifacts
- common - jar, source jar
- controller - jar, source jar and application tar
- invoker - jar, source jar and application tar
2. Push these snapshot artifacts to Apache repo from the CI
3. Initial version to use - 0.0.1-SNAPSHOT?
I am new to Gradle so still figuring out the right approach. Looking
for existing example I see Apache Tapestry is also using Gradle and
doing what all an Apache project build requires for release. So using
that as a template for now [2]. However would need guidance from the
team to figure out the right way!
