several webs application distribute by tomcat 321

I got a tomcat 321 server and cocoon1.8 which distributes two webs applications
that are connected to 2 distincts databases throw turbine pool.
When I call my first application with the URL path, the application ask me to
connect to the first database and it works fine.
I call my second application with the URL path, the application ask me to
connect to the other database and I got an SQL error, the connection is refused.
I have to stop tomcat and restart it to access and connect to the second
application.

Does Tomcat 321 provides the possibility to connect to two distincts databases ?
if  not, is it possible to run two server tomcat on the same machine (changing
ports) ?
