"apache extended" log format

http://www.zdnet.com/pcmag/features/webanalysis2/intro1.html sez:

	The depth of information your Web server can capture depends on
	the log-file formats it supports. This is a long list: Apache
	extended; Lotus Domino; Microsoft IIS, IIS Extended, and IIS Virtual;
	NCSA Combined and Extended; Netscape Combined and Proxy; and O'Reilly
	Website Combined, to name a few. In addition, all servers generate
	log files in basic CERN/NCSA Common Log File format, a proprietary
	format that captures a broad range of data.

Huh?  "Apache extended"?  Erm...

...and I guess I have to upgrade my client, since http://www.pcworld.com/
only shows the background with no text under Navigator 4.04 on FreeBSD.
Not sure what to upgrade to. Ah, upgrading to 3.01 fixed it. Cute.

CLF is a proprietary format?

It's clear that any of these article writers will vanish in a puff
of foul-smelling smoke if they get within line-of-sight of any schools
of journalism. And clews to them are like holy symbols to vampires..
