using apache security with mod_jk2

Hi all,

I want to use apache's user login security via  the .htaccess file
(Directory directive would be fine as well) for a site that is being
forwarded to Tomcat via jk2.

I've tried to just include the .htaccess file in the correct folder
(shot in the dark) with no luck. Is there another way to do this so that
I can use the apache security?
