[jira] Created: (DIRSERVER-1318) Binary installer does not allow installation with a simple user

Binary installer does not allow installation with a simple user
---------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: DIRSERVER-1318
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DIRSERVER-1318
             Project: Directory ApacheDS
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: installer-plugin
    Affects Versions: 1.5.4
            Reporter: Pierre-Arnaud Marcelot
            Assignee: Pierre-Arnaud Marcelot
            Priority: Critical
             Fix For: 1.5.5

Binary installer does not allow installation with a simple user.

The binary installer ask you a lot of questions:
Where you want the server to be installed, Where the instances folder should be placed, The name of the default instance...

But it does not ask you where you want to put the 'apacheds' launcher.
It's installed by default at: '/var/run/apacheds'.

This is an issue when trying to install ApacheDS with a simple user as this user will not have the right to write something at this path.

The installer should propose to overwrite the default path for this 'apacheds' launcher.
