OK, so I used the wrong terminology.

The point is that the mails which are sent to those 'aliases' are visible in the private mod_mbox installation under

https://mail-search.apache.org/members/private-arch/

They are missing from lists.apache.org.
If lists.a.o is really supposed to be replacing mod_mbox then it needs to provide equivalent access to such archives.
