[users@httpd] XP home -save issue when I go to my site.

http://server4.uploadit.org/files/051203-message.jpg

I thought this was just a problem that happened just when I was using my home PC (which is my apache server).

But it actually happens when I checked my site from work.

See linked picture above:

When I go to mydomain I get a message prompting me to save as if my site was trying to FTP me something.

I first noticed this problem after I installed a Dlink wireless router and adapter.

Why is this happening and how do I make it stop?

Thanks for any suggestion.

Kent

This is usually the result of sending the wrong mime-type.
Unfortunately, MSIE hides the "scary" mime-type information from its
users, so it is difficult to tell from that dialoge box.

Check the filename extension of your index file against the AddType
directives in httpd.conf and the mime.types file.

What is the main link to your site?? Without seeing the main site it
is kind of hard to tell.

I tried the http://server4.uploadit.org/ and it worked fine
for me. Is this the correct link??

Steven
----
the site is www.xblhosting.com

The uploadit.org was just a link to show the "download/save" message that I
am getting.

I think I have determined that it has to do with hosting the flash file.

The server may not be setting the "Content-Disposition" header,
which (I think) in this case should be something like:

Content-Disposition: inline; filename=051203-message.jpg;

The headers for <http://server4.uploadit.org/files/051203-message.jpg>

HTTP/1.1 200 OK

http://www.xblhosting.com/ shows me a flash presentation. Maybe those
two computares don't recognise flash files.

I got this HTTP header from the server:

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Fri, 05 Dec 2003 23:00:54 GMT
Server: Apache/2.0.44 (Win32) mod_perl/1.99_08 Perl/v5.8.0
Content-Location: index.html.swf
Vary: negotiate
TCN: choice
Last-Modified: Tue, 10 Jun 2003 20:31:10 GMT
ETag: "0-ac10-d6e59f80"
Accept-Ranges: bytes
Content-Length: 44048
Connection: close
Content-Type: application/x-shockwave-flash

Everything seems to be fine.
Try to embed the flash in a html page and see what your browser does.

Not me, I see a screenshot of a download file modal box... unless that's
the confusion.
