[DISCUSS] Volunteer RM for Apache Geode 1.15.2
Hi all,
As we begin preparations for the Apache Geode 1.15.2 release, I’d like to kindly open the floor for volunteers interested in serving as Release Manager (RM).
If you feel inclined to take on this role, please don’t hesitate to reply to this thread. Should multiple individuals express interest, we’ll coordinate to designate a primary RM and optionally a shadow RM to support the process.
Your willingness to contribute is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to hearing from those interested.
Best regards,
Jinwoo Hwang (he/him/his)

+1 for Jinwoo becoming the release manager! Great to see the momentum here…
I can help out with any ad hoc testing, as needed.
Thanks,
Nitin

Long time Geode user - just tuning in on this thread.
This is awesome and I am looking forward to helping out where I can. I do
have a commit or two in the code base - I never became an Apache
Contributor.
I don't think we need more feedback on the release manager - but here is my
+1 for Jinwoo becoming a release manager.

Re: [DISCUSS] Volunteer RM for Apache Geode 1.15.2

Thanks Jinwoo for stepping up.
+1 from me as mentioned earlier. In the interests of getting Apache Geode
jump-started and generating some positive inertia, let’s give this DISCUSS
thread until *Monday*. If there are no other volunteers or objections by
then, we should consider Jinwoo confirmed as RM for 1.15.2.
That will satisfy the ASF minimum time for confirming a volunteer for RM,
which is at least 72 hours.
Looking ahead, I suggest that DISCUSS threads, including those for RM
volunteers, should ideally remain open for 3 to 5 days during the work
week. That is the ASF ideal. For this case we are applying the 72-hour
minimum in order to keep things moving, but in the future giving a bit more
time should strike a better balance between thoroughness and momentum.
Once again, thanks to Jinwoo for volunteering to take this on.
PS: As a committer you should already have most of the required
permissions, but we will use this release as a way to confirm. Going
through it will also give us the opportunity to update the “*Release Apache
Geode*” page on Confluence so that it reflects the current infrastructure
and process.

+1 to having Jinwoo become the Release Manager for Apache Geode 1.15.2.
I think it's preferable to have someone take on this role who is committed
to a longer term and more full time presence on the project so that they
can then help guide the volunteer for the next release.
