As you mention, ValidatorResourcesInitializer was deprecated in 1.1.0 (alpha),
the specific entry in revision history is here:
http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/validator/changes-report.html#1_1_0__alpha_
For 1.2.0, as an example, you can eliminate calls to:
ValidatorResourcesInitializer.initialize(ValidatorResources, InputStream)
by replacing the no argument constructor of ValidatorResources with the
constructor that takes an InputStream argument.
The commons-user mailing list is more appropriate for ClassNotFoundException
style questions, please ask there before filing a bug.
