rh 7.1 Xerces compilation

Hello,

I'm trying to compile Xerces.PM for redhat 7.1 with no success. Here's
where make fails:

cc -c -I. -IHandler -I/data/pkg/xerces-c-src1_6_0/include -D_REENTRANT
-DDEBIAN -O2   -DVERSION=\"1.5.2_0\" -DXS_VERSION=\"1.5.2_0\" -fpic
-I/usr/local/lib/perl5/5.6.1/i686-linux/CORE  Xerces.C
Xerces.C: In function `void _wrap_XMLValidator_reinitXMLValidator (CV
*)':
Xerces.C:7593: no method `XMLValidator::reinitXMLValidator'

Followingthe instructions I recompiled and installed perl 5.6.1, and am
using Xerces C++ that I compiled successfully from scratch, XERCESCROOT is
set right, and cc = gcc.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

- Andrew

;-)

Wish I could. Once they bump up the version the replace all the pages
with the info for the new version. It just gives me more of a push to
get the 1.6 release out ;-)

Hey, no problem Jason. Thanks for the quick replies! The one thing I'd
suggest would be to change the link in 'The Apache Xerces C++ XML Parser'
section of http://xml.apache.org/xerces-p/index.html to point directly to
the 1.5.2 Xerces (goes to 1.6.0 now) so other hectic developers like me
don't have to bug you with the same questions :)

Sorry if this came across as whiney, but version compatibility between
Xerces.pm and Xerces-C has been a thorny issue in the past. I've tried
to make it as clear as possible. If it isn't clear enough, I'd
appreciate it if someone could suggest how to improve it.

thanks!

This is in the README:

  BUILD REQUIREMENTS:
  ===================

  3. The Apache Xerces C++ XML Parser

      ### NOTE ####

        Required version: 1.5.2

I haven't yet made a release for 1.6.0. Please use Xerces-C-1.5.2
