[users@httpd] jboss-tomcat and apache integration.

Hello everyone:

I have been struggling with the integration of jboss3.0, tomcat 4.0.3 and apche 2. I am using the jboss-tomcat bundle and not the stand alone verion of tomcat which by the way works fine with apache. Here is my question: Does apache start tomcat in the same VM as itself? If that is the case, what happens to the jboss-tomcat VM? Also, my deployed WAR file in the jboss-tomcat bundle works just fine. I would like to use apache for static presentation. I hope some one will tell me how to integrate these three fine application together. Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Nanijon.

mod_jk does not launch tomcat, AFAIK. you're probably running another
instance somewhere else. jboss is almost certainly running it. that's
how our stuff works. apache runs and contacts our containers using our
own connectors, and the containers are running some number of instances
of tomcat inside controlled VMs.

cheers,
andy

Andy:
Good point. Now the question how does apche communicate with tomcat? Does it use the mod_jk.dll (My machine is win2K) to actually launch tomcat or it uses it to establish communication with a running instance of tomcat? The reason I am saying this is the with the stand alone version of tomcat with apache, I only have to start apache and it seems to be talking to tomcat with out I actually starting tomcat. I may be suffereing from too many hours looking at the screen, it is possible. Please let me know guys as to what is going wrong here. Also, with jboss_tomcat bundle and apache integration, I am not able to access the ejbs. They get deployed and I am able to use them on port :8080 using the embeded tomcat, but not from apache.

Nani Jon.
