[jira] [Commented] (CHUKWA-665) Support Ganglia web frontend in Chukwa

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CHUKWA-665?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13474897#comment-13474897 ]

Jason Dai commented on CHUKWA-665:
----------------------------------

Internally we have a prototype, in which Chukwa 0.5 powers the web frontend of a old version of Ganglia . Two sub-tasks are probably needed:
(1) adapt gweb2 to run on HBase - maybe include it in contrib
(2) Optimize the HBase schema for Ganglia queries

> Ganglia is probably the most popular cluster monitoring framework today; in its latest release, it has made its web frontend, Ganglia Web 2 (gweb2), a standalone component. It will be nice for Chukwa to support Ganglia Web 2 for two reasons:
> (1) Administrators can deploy Chukwa as new cluster monitoring framework, while the users can still use the same graph interface as Ganglia.
> (2) With Chukwa, no data will be thrown away, while with Ganglia history data become less accurate overtime.
