As a side note: the only JDK implementation thoroughly tested with Hadoop and Hadoop ecosystem projects is Sun/Oracle JDK6.X. Anything else (JDK7, OpenJDK, etc.) may or may not work.
It would be great if we had a volunteer driving the OpenJDK 7 validation in Bigtop.
