Can anyone explain-----> this in portlet.xml

Snapshot from JSR-168 Specification:
If the expiration property is set to 0, caching is disabled for the
portlet. If the expiration
cache property is set to –1, the cache does not expire. 
If you want the detail, please check PLT.18.1.
