How does dropping two characters from "client" to "clnt" improve the
system? I would suggest that typing the vowels is better for the long
term...

That new group name was for consistency with the other group names
within that file.  The original choice was probably made to avoid
conflicts with potential function names, but that rationale is
probably gone now.
