Hi Alexander,

I realise that current documentation is outdated and sometimes incorrect (especially the configuration page). I am presently rewriting a lot of documentation as a part of work on LOG4PHP-152.

I'll make a note of the problem you describe and fix it for the next release. 

That said, we are moving away from properties files for configuration and will focus more on the xml format in the new documentation. Properties files will still be supported though.
