xerces in the repo
we have a v.2.7.1 of the xerces/xercesImpl but only go up to 2.6.0 on
the xerces/xmlParserAPIs
This is a discrepancy that surely needs correcting

News to me. Thought the repository was a strictly optional affair -
which is why (I suspect) some of the jars have been deployed there by
internal ASF users instead of the original PMC.

If it has been officially released by the PMC it has to be in the
repo. AFAIK it's been decided for all the projects.

You can either ask the maven guys to upload these libs by providing them
as a bundle (see [1]) or ask the xerces guys directly to do it -
whatever you think will be quicker.
Has xerces mavenized yet ?
