User contributed portlets
This may exist, but what about a space somewhere for users of WS-WSRP4J
to contribute portlets and related utilities/examples that would not
form part of the core of ws-wsrp4j but would perhaps be helpful to other
users. These would be accompanied by a health warning about there status.

There has been a discussion in the Portals PMC about creating a
subproject of portals for open source development of JSR168 portlets,
but no decision has been made yet.
There is also a java.net project called Gems, for this very purpose.
There is an ongoing discussion about bringing Gems into Apache.
See: https://gems.dev.java.net/

My suggestion was more in the context of "I've got this wsrp4j portlet
that perhaps someone else would like to canabalise it", rather than
"where can I find some portlet examples to borrow".
The point is that if there is a base of user code (however wonkey) more
people will feel able to be involved, albeit at a less sophisticated level.

If you mean JSR168 portlets I believe I saw a similar project on
SourceForge some time ago, and on very excellent Punit Pandey's blog
(http://portlets.blogspot.com/) there are a few more. If you mean some
producers serving WSRP portlets for testing with our proxyportlet consumer,
there was a thread on this list giving addresses of test portlets from Sun,
IBM, Bea, NetUnity, ... If you surf the list a little you'll find them.
Regards.
