Problems with demo samples

The samples referred to by the user documentation (in the demos sub-directory) 
all give me problems when loaded with 1.9RC1. There are various messages in 
the jmeter log file. Some of the errors are reported to the user, but some are 
not.

I'm continuing to look at these errors, and will post more information as I 
find it.

I'm hoping to fix the loading process so that all errors are reported to the 
user. Some of the lower level methods log errors and continue - they don't (re)
throw them.

I'll also try and create new versions of the demos that load OK.
