I like the idea of creating _TestDataset_ implementations to be used, the _TestAssertion_ seems a bit duplicated of _ClassificationTestBase_.
Perhaps what we can do is add the _TestDataset_ as a further parameter of _ClassificationTestBase_ methods.
Then I'd merge, for example, _KNNTest_ (from your patch) and _KNearestNeighborClassifierTest_ (from existing code base) together.
