CPU Spike

So, what kind of CPU usage would one expect when a bean is created, or when a jsp is compiled, and what not?  Obviously it depends on the bean, or the jsp, and what not, but when I first load the webapp after restarting tomcat, four things occur;
1-Basic Authentication
2-Creates a bean, initializes variables (~20, mostly strings)
3-renders page (a grand total of like 2 dynamic calls)
4-CPU spikes to ~50%.

Any ideas? Or is this just the container starting up?

The machine in question is a single processor with 1Gig RAM, running sunOS 5.x
