I just tried it out and the roll forward script errors out because:

ql/src/test/org/apache/hadoop/hive/ql/security/TestDefaultHiveMetastoreAuthorizationProvider.java

isn't found. After I commented that out and tried to use:

% mvn package
{code}

I get a failure at:

[ERROR] Failed to execute goal org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-antrun-plugin:1.7:run (generate-version-annotation) on project hive-common: An Ant BuildException has occured: exec returned: 1

and tracking that down, it is because the saveVersion.sh depends on md5sum. I'll work around that next. :)
