I think we should wait a while before attempting this. It's too soon to drop support for Scala 2.12 and it's costly to support 3 concurrent Scala versions. I would give it 6 months to allow the ecosystem for 3.0 to stabilize and we can then look into our options (including the possibility of dropping support for Scala 2.12).
