How does everyone deal with the currently-unsupported-outer-joins?

Hello,

I recently read in a post that Torque currently does not support outer
joins.
I am curious how everybody handles their outer-join requirements.
Right now I can only think of using SQL as an exception in cases of
outer joins.
But if somebody has any other ideas, I would be very happy to know.
