Re: gui for apache

Hello,

I have an almost complete Java (Swing) based Apache GUI, with front-end to
'all'
Apache directives - up-to a year ago. It has a front-end for fully
configurable build/installs, and a remote agent which means it can perform
installs and builds remotely - a bit like JMX so the remote servers can be
shutdown etc. without the reliance on HTTP being active. It was released as
a commercial product about 2 years ago called Vision For Apache, and did
receive JARS top 5%, but has changed a lot since. It also has a performance
monitor (with comparative stats) and port scanner to indicate which service
are active on each machine, and it can be updated by email update packets...
basically there's a lot there.

I have been planning to release this as open-source, and will do very soon.
But I have been busy, but hope to release this as soon as I can on
source-forge. I had the goal of create a service to support the software - a
person uses certain modules, then they'll be notified when
modules are updated together with an update packet to the GUI to support new
features. So, module developers can update to one source, then all client
will get notified directly, plus clients get notified only on features they
are using/interested in - very important for bug-fixes etc. The whole thing
I want open-source and non-profit...

The GUI does need tidying up and quite a few improvements. I'll send another
email out once the thing is up on source-forge.

All the best,

Lawrie
