[jira] [Created] (BEAM-1929) I/O Authoring Overview should discuss when to use source/Pardo/IOChannelFactory

Stephen Sisk created BEAM-1929:
----------------------------------

Summary: I/O Authoring Overview should discuss when to use source/Pardo/IOChannelFactory
                 Key: BEAM-1929
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BEAM-1929
             Project: Beam
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: website
            Reporter: Stephen Sisk
            Assignee: Davor Bonaci

In a recent discussion on the mailing list [1] it came up that it's not always clear when reading from files with various file formats what exactly is the right way to do so.

Key quote: "To contribute a new IO connector, how can I determine whether it should be implemented as a source transform or as a scheme for the TextIO?"
