Apache NetBeans 11.1-beta1 Is Available for Testing!
Dear Community,
I'd like to announce that the first beta build for Apache NetBeans
11.1 from the release111 branch is available for download.
As this build is for testing purposes only, we are not going to do the
release dance and voting around it (and as we're not voting on it, the
files are tagged beta not vc!).
As per the recently agreed release schedule, NB 11.1 is a non-LTS
release, and will not have a full NetCAT process. However, feedback
and testing from those on the dev@ and netcat@ lists would still be
appreciated, particularly around new features. Please file issues in
JIRA as necessary, with the affects and fix versions set to 11.1.
Further betas will be released, as required, on June ~26th and/or July
~3rd. The final NB 11.1 release is scheduled for July ~15th.
The next full NetCAT is scheduled for NB 12.0 in early 2020, which
will be the next LTS release.

Geertjan,
I keep sending to the users email, for which I’m now registered, and get no response.
12.x does the same thing.
I still cannot get 11 or 12 to come up on my laptop even after I did what was suggested by ‘uninstalling’ and reinstalling 12. I’ve installed JAVA’s latest version.
Still, Netbeans launches the splash screen, then no UI. In task manager, it’s running but not in the upper part of processes.
Thank you and I’m sorry to be emailing everyone, but I just need to know if anyone has any answers.

I've downloaded the beta to give it a shot and immediately faced an issue, probably not blocking but still annoying at least for me, while installing the JIRA support I got the attached error, it seems to me that a required component that was hosted on an external maven repository is no longer accessible due to invalid/incomplete certificates.
It would be nice if JIRA support was bundled like BugZilla with no need to download it separately, since apache itself actually runs on JIRA (I'm not sure thou that all the components are acceptable for an apache distribution, since it's an atlassian repository and atlassian is not really open source).
On a side note the only way to actually get the JIRA download to work is to manually add to the enabled update centers the old 8.2 Oracle powered UC at: <http://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/8.2/uc/final/certified/catalog.xml.gz> http://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/8.2/uc/final/certified/catalog.xml.gz
Otherwise the download JIRA plugin button that appears when trying to setup a JIRA powered task repository will simply not work.

I've downloaded the beta to give it a shot and immediately faced an issue, probably not blocking but still annoying at least for me, while installing the JIRA support I got the attached error, it seems to me that a required component that was hosted on an external maven repository is no longer accessible due to invalid/incomplete certificates.
It would be nice if JIRA support was bundled like BugZilla with no need to download it separately, since apache itself actually runs on JIRA (I'm not sure thou that all the components are acceptable for an apache distribution, since it's an atlassian repository and atlassian is not really open source).
On a side note the only way to actually get the JIRA download to work is to manually add to the enabled update centers the old 8.2 Oracle powered UC at: <http://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/8.2/uc/final/certified/catalog.xml.gz> http://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/8.2/uc/final/certified/catalog.xml.gz
Otherwise the download JIRA plugin button that appears when trying to setup a JIRA powered task repository will simply not work.

I have a real issue with existing Angular apps in Netbeans 11.3 and 12.3. Notice the error at the bottom for a "VALID" closed curly but look where the upper bracket is attaching itself, thus rending EVERYTHING below the constructor, null and void. What's weird is that this is generated by Angular's CLI on a brand new application
I don’t understand…. I need to get this fixed. I finally got NODE JS installed. It was a chore but it worked.

That looks like something I've read today - see
https://issues.apache.org/jira/projects/NETBEANS/issues/NETBEANS-2637
and the tail of the log? Think that's against 11.0 too. Be good to
get exact steps that consistently trigger this, if there are any.
I may have seen this while updating the release branch too, but put it
down to the redirects for the UC bedding in - not seen it since - been
through a few userdirs since then!

Thanks, that triggers it for me too - so looks like it's installing
from the notification bubble?
Out of interest, does the Java with Maven / Java Frontend Application
work for you after those steps? This wizard just hangs for me after
activation as above.

Yes, although would be good if it wasn't triggered until creating a
JavaFX project.
However, it's more the unsigned issue - this is merged
https://github.com/apache/netbeans/pull/1159 so what's missing to fix
this?

With a clean userdir and no import, if I go to create a new Maven
Application the dialog offers buttons for download and activate, and
just activate.
The dialog has the same text repeated four times.
If I click download and activate it wants to install JavaFX for Linux.
Why?! This is also unsigned.
If I just activate (or cancel download install because I'm worried
about an unsigned plugin!) I get the notification bubble to install
nb-javac. This triggers the above error. It seems to actually work
OK though.
Anyone else replicate that?

one of the AirHacks archetypes by Adam Bien, which is set up and ready for
Java EE 8, and deploy to GlassFish from NetBeans.

I've downloaded the beta to give it a shot and immediately faced an issue, probably not blocking but still annoying at least for me, while installing the JIRA support I got the attached error, it seems to me that a required component that was hosted on an external maven repository is no longer accessible due to invalid/incomplete certificates.
It would be nice if JIRA support was bundled like BugZilla with no need to download it separately, since apache itself actually runs on JIRA (I'm not sure thou that all the components are acceptable for an apache distribution, since it's an atlassian repository and atlassian is not really open source).
On a side note the only way to actually get the JIRA download to work is to manually add to the enabled update centers the old 8.2 Oracle powered UC at: http://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/8.2/uc/final/certified/catalog.xml.gz
Otherwise the download JIRA plugin button that appears when trying to setup a JIRA powered task repository will simply not work.

Dear Community,
I'd like to announce that the first beta build for Apache NetBeans
11.1 from the release111 branch is available for download.
As this build is for testing purposes only, we are not going to do the
release dance and voting around it (and as we're not voting on it, the
files are tagged beta not vc!).
As per the recently agreed release schedule, NB 11.1 is a non-LTS
release, and will not have a full NetCAT process. However, feedback
and testing from those on the dev@ and netcat@ lists would still be
appreciated, particularly around new features. Please file issues in
JIRA as necessary, with the affects and fix versions set to 11.1.
Further betas will be released, as required, on June ~26th and/or July
~3rd. The final NB 11.1 release is scheduled for July ~15th.
The next full NetCAT is scheduled for NB 12.0 in early 2020, which
will be the next LTS release.
