Problems running Lenya with a DB connection which doesn't respond
Hi
I have installed Lenya with a DB connection, whereas the DB is behind a
firewall and cannot be reached.
This leads to that the server (Jetty or Tomcat) doesn't startup
properly. I guess it's because a connection
tries to be established and there is no time-out or just a very "slow" one.
Any other experiences like that?
Thanks
Michi

In case of a non-reachable DB (server not running) I get a timeout of 120
seconds. I am using ojdbc14.jar as JDBC driver. I didn't research if this
timeout value can be changed somewehere.

thanks for the confirmation. I guess it's a Cocoon problem. It probably
tries to build
a pool of connections during startup and doesn't receive a timeout,
whereas maybe one
can configure a timeout, but I don't know how ...
Thanks

Yes,
When the wrong DB source address was once accidentally configured in our
code, the behaviour was as you described. Nothing in the logs, the page was
just trying to load (until I stoped it).
