Right now, we are implicitly assuming WGS84, but there are plenty of others, e.g., North American Datum of 1983 for one. As part of this, we should support conversion between different geoids, the ability to parse and read existing files and determine their reference system (maybe this should be an issue in itself), and conversion functions to take SIS data and go back and forth. Of course, this has large implications on distance functions, existing geometric operators and spatial comparators.
