As mentioned in the previous comment, you must be looking at the old Xerces-J 
docs, because the org.apache.xerces.framework.XMLParser package no longer 
exists in Xerces2-J. DOMParser now extends AbstractDOMParser. 

Have a look at the current API docs at:
http://xml.apache.org/xerces2-j/index.html.
