[jira] [Commented] (HDFS-14716) Pass CreateFile Flags To Subclasses
of FileSystem

Íñigo Goiri commented on HDFS-14716:
------------------------------------
Tweaking ClientProtocol is always tricky because of backwards compatibility.
You would need to keep the old way and probably adding a new one, but that's also tricky.

> I need a way to pass [HDFS-13448] {{NO_LOCAL_WRITE}} to the {{DistributedFileSystem}} class. The {{create}} method should pass all of the {{CreateFile}} flags to the underlying implementation. The 'overwrite' flag should be removed and let implementation read this directive as a {{CreateFile}} flag.
> {code:java}
> public abstract FSDataOutputStream create(Path f,
> FsPermission permission,
> boolean overwrite,
> int bufferSize,
> short replication,
> long blockSize,
> Progressable progress) throws IOException;
> {code}
