[CONFIGURATION][CONFIGURATION-756] PR 34 and releasing 2.6

Hi All,

If all goes well with PR 34 [1] for CONFIGURATION-756 [2] (I don't see a
problem there but I wrote it ;-) I plan on merging it and cutting an RC
ASAP. Feel free to review.
