[users@httpd] .htaccess files

Can ANYONE please tell me how to configure an Apache webserver on a RH 9.0 Server so that I can go in and out of various sites hosted on this same server without being:

Prompted for the wrong password at the wrong site (this isn't simple)

For instance I go to Site A then go to site B. Site B shows me a login box again based on what Site A was asking for.

I need to secure the ROOT/MAIN page of the website at the very top level, so suggestions or tips would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I'm lost, and I'm sure others will be too. What exactly are you trying to
do?

Are you trying to get it so that if you log in on one site, you can reuse
those credentials on another site on the same server? You can't.
