          Issue ID: 126500
        Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: ASCII Filter Options Menu Appears and Shuts Down Open
                    Office
           Product: App Dev
           Version: 4.1.1
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Windows 10
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: critical
          Priority: P5
         Component: scripting
          Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
          Reporter: smalhout@verizon.net

I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. After about two weeks, a menu now
appears entitled "ASCII Filter Options" that shuts down Open Office whenever I
try to open an existing file for additional work. the ASCII Filter Options did
not appear previously when I opened existing files in Open Office.

This is not a bug. An ASCII filter message usually means that OpenOffice cannot
understand a document; this suggests it is damaged.

You should look in the backup and temporary directories pointed to by /Tools
/Options /OpenOffice : Paths. Rename any files in those to the correct type and
see if they contain your data. Run an undelete utility such as Recuva or
PhotoRec and see if it will find some deleted temporary file holding some or
all of your data.
