[jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-3039) demote "File doesn't exist"
warning in the garbage collector
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ACCUMULO-3039?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14087803#comment-14087803 ]
Eric Newton commented on ACCUMULO-3039:
---------------------------------------
The race condition:
* tablet server compacts a bunch of files, removes references to them
* gc scans for references to a file, and finds none
* gc deletes the file and the delete marker
* tablet server creates a new delete marker for the recently deleted file
* gc runs again, and finds that the file is missing when it attempts to delete it a second time
The larger the cluster, the more likely these operations will overlap, causing the error message about deleting a file.

> There's a race condition between the removal of a file, and the removal of the candidate marker in the metadata table. The race condition is safe, but the production of warnings is annoying. Demote this message to DEBUG.
