[jira] [Created] (HDFS-11540) PeerCache sync overhead
Ravikumar created HDFS-11540:
--------------------------------
Summary: PeerCache sync overhead
Key: HDFS-11540
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-11540
Project: Hadoop HDFS
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: hdfs-client
Affects Versions: 2.7.1
Reporter: Ravikumar
Priority: Minor
PeerCache has a fair amount sync over-head. In addition to class level locking, expired sockets & eldest socket are closed in critical section during gets & puts respectively..
A ConcurrentLinkedHashMap with appropriate fencing using DatanodeID could speed it up?
