_link_hidden_ problems in IE

hello,
i am truely getting nowhere fast with this issue and would be enternally
grateful if someone could point in some direction.
when rendering  the page IE throws a js error. saying that _link_hidden is
null or not an object.

i've been looking it to this on and off for the past 2 weeks and can't seem
find a solution (works in firefox);
the offending script is the generated "clear_FORMNAME()" at the end of a
form.
i have come across the same problem been posted a couple of times before but
that was for myfaces 1.1 or 1.2 ( early in 2005 ); and the solutioon was to
go into the code and stop HtmlRenderUtils from setting the form hidden
attributes to null, and from the generated javacript i can see that this has
been fixed..

so i'm wondering why is the error appearing for me for is there soemthing i
should be aware of
