inputstream.close() will read the remaining bytes of the OSS object,
potentially transferring a lot of bytes from OSS that are discarded.

we've all hit that one. Real perf killer on the big downloads, and not one which shows up in the smaller unit tests.
The scale/seek tests in S3A are designed to catch that —maybe look at something similar.
