Alternatives for extension elements or xsl:document - element?

Dear all,

currently I am writing a stylesheet in order to transform another stylesheet
with. The original stylesheet I have to split into several own
stylesheet-files during this process. Therefore I would need the feature of
either the xsl:document- element or an extension element like xalan:write.
Both are not yet supported in the current Xalan-C-release.

Does anybody faced the same problem yet? Is the best solution in this case
to transform the basic stylesheet with multiple stylesheets covering the
different template-rules?
