I think I'm just squeaking in under the deadline:

[+1] Release httpd-2.3.6 as Alpha

I built from the .tar.bz2 and -deps.tar.bz2 packages on my
crusty old Linux 2.6.15 box with gcc 4.1.2, and --enable-modules=all.
Server started OK, mod_status and mod_info info looked good.
Otherwise no heavy testing.

I checked the GPG sigs on the *.tar.bz2 files but not the others,
sorry.

   Thanks!

Chris.

same failure on Ubuntu after adding"--with-expat=builtin" due to
unresolved libtool macros in apr-util/xml/expat/configure

users without system expat can presumably build expat separately and
point to that

S10 Update 5 on Intel

apparently it is the use of bundled expat

checking Expat 1.95.x... no
checking old Debian-packaged expat... no
checking old FreeBSD-packaged expat... no
checking Expat 1.0/1.1... no
  setting LDFLAGS to "-L/usr/local/lib"
  adding "-I/usr/local/include" to CPPFLAGS
checking Expat 1.95.x in /usr/local... no
  nulling LDFLAGS
  removed "-I/usr/local/include" from CPPFLAGS
configuring package in xml/expat now
checking build system type... i386-pc-solaris2.10
checking host system type... i386-pc-solaris2.10
checking target system type... i386-pc-solaris2.10
/export/home/trawick/opensource/httpd-2.3.6/srclib/apr-util/xml/expat/configure:
line 3352: syntax error near unexpected token `lt_decl_varnames,'
/export/home/trawick/opensource/httpd-2.3.6/srclib/apr-util/xml/expat/configure:
line 3352: `lt_if_append_uniq(lt_decl_varnames, SED, , ,'
configure failed for xml/expat
configure failed for srclib/apr-util

$ ls -l srclib/apr-util/xml/expat/configure
-rwxr-xr-x 1 trawick other 430902 Jun 11 08:15
srclib/apr-util/xml/expat/configure

I should try "--with-expat=builtin" on a system where system expat is
normally used and see if I get the same issue.

I'm working on it, but so far I can't get the two tarballs to build on
Solaris 10 with "./configure --prefix=FOO", apparently due to some
libtool version issue down in expat (running buildconf just moved
libtool symptoms from one place to another); yes, vague descriptions,
but no time to mess with it now.

I'm switching to another platform where I hope to be able to build and
kick the tires.

APR 1.4.2
APU 1.3.9
APU 1.4.0-dev
Every module loads this time (lbmethods did not in 2.3.5 IIRC)
SSLCACertificateFile no longer errors for me
I'd +1 beta if that were an option and a freeze on the API.
Looks like cabin fever is going to bring the vote down to the wire with
less than 11 hours to go.

I built it on Solaris 8, Solaris 10 (both Sparc, using gcc), SuSE Linux
Enterprise 10 (32 and 64 Bits) and RHEL 5 (64Bits).

For each platform build against released APR/APU 1.4.2/1.3.9, against
bundled and against APR trunk.

Each of those combinations built with shared and static modules as well
as default build. Module sets "few", "most", "all", "none" and default.

All builds with shared mpms "all".

All builds succeeded and contain the expected set of binaries and modules.

Due to time conjstraints I was only able to run the test framework for
Solaris 8 (bundled APR/APU, all modules, shared) with MPM prefork and
worker and for SLES 10, 32 Bit (bundled APR/APU, all modules, shared)
with MPMs event, worker and prefork. Runs were successful.

Thanks for RM'ing

Rainer

OK.... I kept the deadline open a bit and we have the following
votes:

+1: Jim Jagielski, Marlo Brandt (nb), Stefan Fritsch,
Gregg Smith (nb), Chris Darroch, Eric Covener,
Rainer Jung, Jeff Trawick, Dan Poirier.

Looks like we have sufficient binding votes that I feel
comfy releasing!

Will update site and away we go!

+1: Non-binding and missed the deadline, but for what it's worth...

Downloads okay, md5 & sha checksums good.
Built on Mac OS 10.6.3 with CC='gcc -arch i386'
Test framework passes except for SSL, I think I would need
to track down a more recent OpenSSL than Mac OS 10.6.3 provides
to get the session renegotiation stuff to work.

I checked just now, and I can see it on

http://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/
http://archive.apache.org/dist/httpd/

and several mirrors like e.g.

http://apache.autinity.de/httpd/
http://ftp-stud.hs-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/ftp.apache.org/dist/httpd/
http://apache.mirror.iphh.net/httpd/
http://apache.mirror.clusters.cc/httpd/
ftp://mirror.netcologne.de/apache.org/httpd/
...

Actually going through just a few mirrors I couldn't find one that is
missing 2.3.6. Note that the mirros don't have the md5 and sha1 files,
only the tarballs and signature, but I guess that's intentional.

Maybe things just improved today.

Regards,

Rainer

Just a FYI:

I've been trying to get this puppy released, but something
is *seriously* hosed with the whole svn sync process since,
even as of *today*, it looks like NO mirrors have the
2.3.6-alpha tarballs, even though they have been committed
and placed in all the right places on minotaur...

I've submitted a few infra JIRA tasks but no joy... If anyone
knows the magic mojo required to force these tarballs to be
mirrored, please let me know...
