This specific issue is closed by us working around the use of symlinks in our /dist/ area.   However, I notice that http://www.apache.org/dev/mirrors.html still suggests that symbolic links are fine on the /dist/ portion of the website.  This is not true, and will bite other projects who think they're following the guidelines correctly.

Either:

1. mirrors.html should be fixed to NOT recommend this, or
2. the failing mirrors should be kicked off the list, if they haven't already been.

I note that the mirror guidelines now require that mirror admins set FollowSymlinks, or fix their rsync appropriately.
